Privacy Policy and Data Protection Statement

I am registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as a data controller, registration number ZB498581. The registration certificate is available on request and can be viewed online at  ico.org.uk/register

In handling your information, I am required to comply with the terms of the Data Protection Act 2018 and the UK General Date Protection Regulation (GDPR.)

In order to receive a family history service from Mike England, trading as Family Story UK, you will be supplying information such as Name, Address, Email Address, and Telephone number for contact purposes, and you may supply Family History Content to allow the service to be carried out. This information is supplied so that the research can take place and the service supplied. Any such information is considered confidential and will only be used by me for contact with you, for research purposes, for my own record keeping and for accounts purposes.  The information you supply will only be used for the purposes you specify when you share it with me – in other words, to conduct the work you have asked me to do. It will not be used for any other purpose. Your information will not be passed on to a third party, for example a relative, without your permission and unless you wish it to be passed on.  Information will be retained by me unless you ask for it to be destroyed.

I take measures to ensure that personal information is held securely.

Once the work has been finished, any report or output will either be sent via email or will be sent via special delivery.  Your report or other output will then be archived onto an external hard drive, kept on my premises. Emails and a copy of your report will be kept on my computer. Your research report and material will be kept, as clients may need further work undertaken at a later date. However, you can ask for your report to be deleted at any time.

I will retain your personal contact information after the research is complete, and I may use it in order to contact you in the future. If you do not want me to do this, it is your responsibility to inform me so that I can securely delete your contact information from my records.

By accepting my research proposal and asking me to start work, you indicate your acceptance of these terms.

You have the right to request the information held about you and to have any inaccuracies corrected.

At any point a client can ask for their information and report to be destroyed, at which point this would be done.

For PayPal payments, your email address will be used by us and PayPal to process the payment.  All PayPal transactions take place in a secure web environment.
